ABOUT DIDGC
The inaugural Doha International Diamond & Gem Conference (DIDGC) took place at The Ned Doha, Qatar, January 29th - 31st, 2025. Here, Doha welcomed a diverse group of stakeholders from the global diamond, coloured gemstone and pearl industry and trade, as well as government ministers and CEOs of companies, representing diamond and coloured gemstone mining, manufacturing, jewellery, and retail sectors, as well as international experts in luxury, fashion, technology, sustainability, and consumer confidence.
At its conclusion, DIDGC 2025’s theme “The New Connection” proved to be more than a title: it was a lived experience! Where else but in Doha could leading diamond miners share the stage with junior and artisanal miners, and together drill down to the essential questions that currently reverberate throughout the entire diamond supply line: how do we ensure that diamond mining remains relevant and profitable for all miners and mining communities, from large corporations to small and medium-sized operations?
Stepping away from the ‘cookie-cutter’ model of earlier conferences, the DIDGC also featured panel discussions on the coloured gemstone industry and trade, as well as category marketing, redefining marketing strategies, and enhancing sustainability efforts.
With the inaugural DIDGC, Qatar has proven itself not just as a host but as an emerging and auspicious participant in the global diamond and gemstone sector, signalling the country’s long-term vision for luxury, trade, and investment. With new partnerships forged and critical conversations ignited, the next DIDGC 2026 aims to continue and live up to the expectation that Qatar will play a central role in the global diamond, coloured gemstone, and pearl industry and
trade’s brilliant future.

WHY QATAR?

Qatar proved to be the perfect location for a brainstorming event such as the Doha International Diamond & Gem Conference (DIDGC) and delivered on its promise that Doha would provide the perfect platform for fostering cooperation and new synergies between the diamond and
coloured gemstone industries and the economies of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Since the DIDGC’s successful inception, Qatar has submitted its candidacy for the Vice Chairmanship (2025-2026) of the Kimberley Process Certification System (KP). The Kimberley Process (KP) is an international system established in 2003 by the United Nations to prevent & "Conflict Diamonds" & from entering legitimate trade. Upon the KP’s confirmation, Qatar would then become KP Chair in 2026, five years after its induction into the KP.
Qatar’s quest to become an active and fully involved player in the diamond, gemstone and jewellery trade is part of its economic ambitions and endeavours. On the one hand, the country has a highly developed consumer market and expertise. On the other hand, Qatar is committed to collaborating with established diamond and gemstone centres worldwide to enable and encourage growth. The DIDGC cooperates closely with Qatar Tourism, the Qatar Business Events Corporation and the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, and as such is the perfect
platform to explore the opportunities these various partners offer.
The second edition of the Doha International Diamond & Gem Conference will be held in the first half of 2026. We hope to announce the exact dates shortly.
